Who do you serve?
∼We work with people of all ages and backgrounds. Clients commonly seek help for issues like anxiety, depression, grief, PTSD, trauma, communication and relationship problems.
We serve individuals 7 years and older, families, and groups.

How do horses help people?
∼In equine-assisted psychotherapy and coaching sessions a mental health professional, equine specialist and client(s) interact with horses in ground-based activities. We utilize an indoor arean, outdoor arena and pasture areas with one or more horses. We will use 1-5 horses in a session.

Why Horses?
∼Horses are social animals with different personalities and emotions. Therefore, horses can often react and respond to our feelings, energy, and emotions. You will often see these reactions as a reflection of what is happening in your own life. As facilitators we guide clients as they gain insight into their own thoughts, feelings, behaviors, needs, challenges and strengths.

Do I need experience with horses?
∼No, you do not need to have experience around horses. All sessions are on the ground. We do request all individuals dress for outdoor weather and wear closed-toe footwear.

If I don’t want to be around the horses, can I still get services at Eagle Vista Ranch?
∼Absolutely! We also have traditional counseling where the session is conducted in the office.

How does an equine-assisted psychotherapy/learning session differ from an office session?
∼An office session is located in the office with the client and a licensed counselor working toward treatment goals. An equine-assisted psychotherapy session has the client, a licensed counselor, and an equine specialist work through the same goals with the horses.

Will I ride the horses?
∼Our equine-assisted psychotherapy and learning sessions programs are ground-based.

Are you open all year? What happens when it is really cold, hot or stormy outside?
∼Yes, we are open all year round. For those days when the weather is stormy, overly hot, or very cold we use the indoor arena. Also, the office is heated. However, we do like to be outside as much as possible and we encourage people to dress appropriately for the weather.
